May 2, 2005, Troop 175 Committee Meeting Minutes

 

Meeting was held at the Scout hut. Attending:  Jason Uchitel, Wayne Weeks, Carl McAllister, Jeff Hayden, Eric Weber, Jim Paulino, Harry DeMille, and Bruce Lewis.

 

Harry DeMille opened the meeting with a prayer.

 

Secretary’s Report:   The April Minutes were approved as submitted.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  The Troop checking account contains $607.55.

 

12 scouts attended the Camporee at Bert Adams Reservation-- 7 arriving on Friday and 5 arriving on Saturday, along with 4 adults:  Jason Uchitel, Stewart Grant, James Boaz and Eric Weber

 

The GOLDEN AX TROPHY was returned to its rightful home, thanks to the competitive efforts of Scouts Jared Underwood, Cole Grant, Ashley Weeks and Sr. Patrol Leader Matt Rodriguez.

 

Jared Underwood, Ashley Weeks, Daniel Weber and Cole Grant participated in the Tap Out of OA candidates at Bert Adams.

 

A Bike trip to Stone Mountain from Decatur is being planned. The tentative date is May 14.

 

Deryk Spiker’s Eagle Scout ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 15 at 3 PM at the Decatur First United Methodist Church Chapel.   All Scouts and Scouters are invited.

 

Harry DeMille is concerned about the low registration for summer camp. Lets get those registrations to the Scoutmaster.

 

Jason Uchitel plans to have a meeting of all Scouts attending Philmont this summer.  Time, date and place to be announced.

 

In preparation for Philmont, a Red Cross CPR training course was completed by Jason Uchitel, Stewart Grant, Stewart Golley and Ashley Weeks.      Jason would like for   all the above to complete a first aid course to be scheduled.

 

Charlie Gowing stated that Christian Eden and Jared Underwood need to complete Eagle projects. Christian Eden has a project work day scheduled for Saturday, May 7.

 

Charlie Gowing noted that some Eagle candidates do no have the required nights of camping.   Jeff Hayden noted that there are opportunities for camping with other troops.  Recently, Jeremy Uchitel, Christian Eden and Gregory Hayden participated with Troop 18 in a camping and rock climbing event.

 

Jeff Hayden has organized a work day at Camp 175 for Saturday May 14 from 9 o’clock AM to 1 o’clock PM.  A back up work day will be held on June 4.  Jeff Hayden noted that 90 Cub Scouts from Pack 353 were at Camp 175 this past week end.

 

The next committee meeting will be held at the Scout Hut on June 13
