Eagle Scout Marshall Tumperi: Recycling Center at Glenn Creek Nature Preserve

Marshall’s project was to build a permanent covered structure for recycling and garbage receptacles to cut down on littering in the Glenn Creek Nature Preserve, a heavily forested 3-acre area in the midst of exurban Decatur. After gaining approval with the Glenn Creek Nature Preserve and the City of Decatur Development Authority, Marshall set out to plan the project. His design was reviewed and approved by the City of Decatur. It took 100 hours to build the structure with the help of scouts, high-school friends and youth-group friends.

Marshall Tumperi earned his Eagle rank on August 21, 2012, 7 years and 3 months after joining Troop 175.
