Name Tape Info and Instructions

Each scout must have a name tape sewn to his Class A Scout uniform shirt.

Instructions

Measure the length of the white letters (MY NAME in the example above) on your name tape, then do either Step A –OR– Step B.

Step A: Do this if your name (white letters) is 4 inches long or less:

1. Cut 1 inch off each long end of the name tape. This should reduce the length of the name tape from 7 inches to 5 inches.
2. Prepare to sew name tape above “BOY SCOUTS of AMERICA” which is above the breast pocket.
3. When putting name tape on shirt, fold under approximately ½ inch of each end of the name tape, which will make it about 4 inches in length with the name in the center. Keep the ends folded under, then center and sew the name tape to the shirt with the ends still folded under (to prevent fraying) above the pocket as shown in picture.

Step B: Do this if your name (white letters) is between 4 and 5 inches long:

1. Cut ½ inch off each long end of the name tape. This should reduce the length of the name tape from 7 inches to 6 inches.
2. Prepare to sew name tape above “BOY SCOUTS of AMERICA” which is above the breast pocket.
3. When putting name tape on shirt, fold under approximately ½ inch of each end of the name tape, which will make it about 5 inches in length with the name in the center. Keep the ends folded under, then center and sew the name tape to the shirt with the ends still folded under (to prevent fraying) above the pocket as shown in picture.
