Are you new to Troop 175? Are you thinking about joining? Is your boy aged 11 to 17? Welcome! We know you have lots of questions. Read on and we’ll give you plenty of info.

Troop 175

Troop 175 is for boys aged 11 to 17 in Decatur, Georgia.

If your boy is less than 10 years old, he’s too young for our Troop. If you have a boy or girl in K – 5th grade, we encourage you to join Decatur’s Pack 175 (Cub Scouts).

For more info about Pack 175 Cub Scouts for younger boys & girls, please visit www.pack175decatur.com

Cub Scouts are different than Boy Scouts.

Here’s a great BSA article that outlines the important differences: Cub Scouts vs. Boy Scouts

New Scout Camp (aka Newbie Camp)

Troop 175 offers a special camp for boys who are new to the Troop or new to scouting. Newbie Camp is held at Camp 175 on beautiful Lake Allatoona over the long Labor Day weekend. Here are some of the reasons for this special camp:

  1. To help new scouts understand the expectations for Troop 175 and how this is different than Cub Scouts.
  2. To acclimate new scouts to the Youth-Led Boy Scout program where experienced youth leaders teach the newer, less experienced scouts.
  3. To teach new scouts the skills they’ll need for some of their initial advancement and which they will need to become exemplary Boy Scouts.
  4. To have some fun!
